Curriculum
At Belair we are guided by the South Australian Curriculum. The South Australian Curriculum embraces a holistic approach to educating each child. Knowledge, capabilities and dispositions are connected aspects of learning that together support deep understanding and enable students to apply their learning effectively across a range of contexts.
We use the curriculum to:
- embrace curiosity through inquiry
- plan enriching student learning experiences aligned with the curriculum areas
- monitor and assess student progress throughout the year
- report student progress to families
- support student wellbeing

The International Baccalaureate PYP program
We are an accredited International Baccalaureate World School. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is a globally recognised framework for teaching and learning designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on developing the whole child through inquiry-based lerning, encouraging students to think critically, ask questions and make connections across subject areas. The PYP also promotes international-mindedness, agency and the knowledge, skills and attributes students need to become active, caring and lifelong learners.
At Belair Primary, through the PYP program and SA Curriculum, students develop skills to be inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who contribute positively to their community.
Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum
The Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC) is required for all children and young people in our school. It’s taught each year by teachers who have completed a full-day KS:CPC training course.
It teaches children to:
- recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult about it
- understand what touching is appropriate and inappropriate
- understand ways of keeping themselves safe.
